Our History:
Agape Christian Preschool was part of the original vision of Agape Church & Outreach Center, which was founded in 1981 under the direction of Pastors Dick & Jeri Ingram. We opened Agape Christian Preschool on August 24, 1992 under the administration of Sam and Nell Bryson, with Wanda Thost as the director.
The preschool quickly grew to an enrollment of 50 within the first few months. We suffered a setback when Wanda Thost resigned due to health reasons, but we slowly recovered and began a steady growth pattern in 1994, under the direction of Donna Miles. We are currently licensed by the State of Texas to care for 139 children from six weeks to twelve years of age.
In 2001, our center was selected to participate in the Bright Beginnings project, a three-year joint venture of United Way Texas Gulf Coast/ExxonMobil Corporation. This project has helped improve the quality of care children receive at our center by providing developmentally appropriate equipment, new playgrounds, and professional development for staff through Initiatives for Children in addition to wage supplementation for those meeting their professional goals.
While our center has established an excellent reputation for quality childcare in the cities of Pasadena, Deer Park, LaPorte, and Southeast Houston, we will not stop here. Our vision includes further development of programs to serve more children.
